Wheezer’s Records was born when my brother, Wheezer, passed away leaving his cherished record and CD collections to me. He started collecting records in the late 1960’s when he was about nine or ten years old. I started collecting too when I was about six years old. Heavily influenced by him and my older sister, I did everything they did including collecting records. He never stopped buying until he passed away. His collection had everything from 1960‘s pop to classic rock, disco, heavy metal, new wave, synth pop, prog rock, chill, shoe gaze, trance, edm and a little bit of jazz and blues.
Around 1982, our infatuation with new wave led us to start an import company which we ran out of our home. It was called W. T. Records. We had difficulty finding good exporters from England until we came across a record with a sticker for Go-Ahead London. We tracked them down and they became our sole source for ten years. We lived off UK 12”’s by English bands like Depeche Mode, The Cure, Duran Duran, Erasure, Bananarama, Culture Club, U2, New Order, OMD, the Pet Shop Boys and on and on. We still have a small collection of unsold items from that era which are brand new in that they’ve never been played.
At this point, a good portion of the collection was sold on discogs.com. You can see our current listings there and on eBay at Wheezer’s Records. We are still adding CDs and some records. The point of this blog is to discuss interesting anecdotes that reference the music of our past. As we list and sell, we reminisce about the bands, songs and albums and would like to share what we remember and are still learning about all our old favorites. We hope to make you smile remembering the music of our collective pasts. Cheers!
